Barnes Common’s popular Eco-Explorers Summer Camp for young people aged 8 to 14 is back. Join them daily for outdoor adventures and to learn about local wildlife!

This year’s Eco-Explorers Summer Camp will run for 4 days from Tuesday 21 July to Friday 24 July. Young people aged 8 to 14 will learn how to identify, record and understand wildlife around them. Building skills throughout the week, they will take part in practical conservation activities and learn how to share their knowledge with others!

Programme:

  • Day 1 - Investigating plants. A closer look at the trees and other plants around the common
  • Day 2 - Navigating and wayfinding. Understanding how to navigate around open spaces and safely explore wild spaces
  • Day 3 - Investigating invertebrates. Compare the wildlife living in different habitats
  • Day 4 - Conservation activities & sharing skills and knowledge. Assist with practical habitat management activities. Learn how to use art and creative skills to engage the community around us with nature

The programme may be subject to changes or adjustments.

Each day will run from 9.30am to 3.30pm, with opportunities for breaks and socialising. Young people aged 8 to14 will work as a group and develop their confidence and social and interpersonal skills.
