Residents invited to discuss A316 safety concerns with Transport for London

7 July 2026

Residents have told us they are concerned about safety along the A316, including the shared pedestrian and cycling route between St Margarets roundabout and Twickenham Bridge. We are holding an online Community Conversation so residents can put their questions directly to Transport for London (TfL) and hear what more can be done to make the area safer.

The meeting will focus on issues affecting people travelling through the area, including residents living north of the A316 who must cross at St Margarets roundabout to access local schools, shops and transport links. Concerns have been raised about the safety of pedestrians and cyclists using the roundabout, especially families and carers taking children to and from school and the elderly.

Residents will hear from TfL about the challenges in the area and have the chance to ask questions about possible safety improvements, including better barriers and segregated cycle lanes.

The online Community Conversation will take place on Tuesday 21 July at 7pm and will be chaired by the Leader of Richmond Council, Councillor Gareth Roberts. Catherine Seaborn, Head of Local Communities and Partnerships at TfL, will give a short presentation before taking questions from residents.

Ward councillors for St Margarets and North Twickenham – Councillor Alexander Ehmann, Councillor Katie Mansfield and Councillor Maria Margiotta – will also attend, alongside senior council officers.

The event will be held via Microsoft Teams Webinar. Questions on the night can be asked via the Q&A or raise your hand functions. Residents must register in advance to receive joining instructions.
