Community Fund boosts 14 local projects creating inclusive community spaces
22 January 2026
Our Community Fund allocated nearly £1 million from the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy to support 14 local projects across the borough.
Councillor Nancy Baldwin, Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities and the Voluntary Sector, said:
"These Community Fund projects will play a vital role in transforming our community spaces, improving accessibility, and creating more inclusive environments.
"I’m looking forward to seeing how these projects strengthen local resilience, respond to the pressures of new development, and deliver lasting benefits for our growing and diverse communities.”
Among the dedicated funding, £350,000 has been awarded to the Moormead Community and Sports Pavilion, towards creating a new accessible community pavilion with toilets, café, and sports storage to strengthen community facilities. This reflects our commitment to making Richmond a fairer, more accessible and more inclusive place for everyone.
In addition, the Community Fund will help create modern and improved spaces that are more energy efficient, safer, and more welcoming. Spaces that will be upgraded include community halls and centres, youth, sport and recreation facilities, and upgraded theatres.
Green hubs, orchards and sustainable infrastructure will enhance biodiversity and outdoor spaces, while improved pathways, toilets, and seating ensure everyone can participate fully.

The Community Fund
The Community Fund is drawn from the 15% neighbourhood share of the Community Infrastructure Levy collected from new development to help offset its impact by supporting local infrastructure projects.
The Community Fund offers local community and voluntary groups the opportunity to secure funding for infrastructure projects that ease the pressures of growth and deliver lasting benefits for Richmond residents.
We are excited to launch a new funding round exclusively for Ham and Petersham. The deadline for expressions of interest is 5pm on Monday 23 March 2026.
