Have your say on NHS sleep apnoea care
Community news on behalf of NHS South West London | 27 February 2026
If you currently receive sleep apnoea treatment from the Sleeping Disorders Centre, you can share your views. NHS South West London reviews how sleep apnoea care is provided across the borough.
In Richmond, residents receive care from two providers: the Sleeping Disorders Centre and the St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (St George’s).
A proposal is now being considered to bring the Sleeping Disorders Centre’s NHS sleep apnoea service in line with the model used at St George’s. Under this proposal, St George’s would become the sole NHS‑commissioned provider for sleep apnoea care in the borough, in addition to alternatives available under the NHS Choice Framework.

Sleep apnoea treatment
Obstructive sleep apnoea is a condition where your breathing stops and starts during sleep, stopping air from reaching the lungs. This can lead to several health problems. OSA is diagnosed with an overnight sleep study, that can be done in clinic or at home and records breathing and sleep patterns while the patient sleeps. Some people may need to use a device called a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine which gently pumps air into a mask you wear while you sleep.
