Greenwood Book Club fosters connection through literature

Community news on behalf of Greenwood Community Centre | 12 February 2026

Run by Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care for registered neighbours, the book club shows that a shared love of reading and meaningful discussion can strengthen community connections at any age.

Meeting monthly, the club provides members with the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and participate in engaging discussions characterised by humour, thoughtful reflection, and a broad range of perspectives.

Organisers pick reading material, coordinate distribution and return of books to the library, and can arrange large-print or audio editions to ensure accessibility for all members.

β€œIt is a very welcoming group, made up of people from diverse backgrounds, and I would highly recommend joining,” says Anne, a former teacher who has been a member of the club for over a year.

β€œI enjoy reading books that I would never normally read. Afterwards we have such great discussions plus there are tea and biscuits,” says Christine who has been a member of the group since it started 6 years ago.

Beyond literary discussion, the Greenwood Book Club offers a supportive environment that promotes social connection and community engagement. Additionally, the Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care offers a range of other activities that many of the book group members participate in.
