Young people share their feedback on parks

23 February 2024

In the autumn of last year, our parks team ran a consultation to learn more on how young people engage with our parks and open spaces. The results are now available to read.

The aim of this consultation was to understand what young people in the borough use the parks and open spaces for and what improvement they would like to see implemented.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide responses. The feedback collected will be used to make changes and improve the parks and open spaces all around the borough to make Richmond upon Thames an even nicer place to live and study in.

Based on the feedback we received, some of the key findings and next steps are:

  • Increasing the number of pollination stations in parks
  • Increasing provision of bins, benches, and picnic tables
  • The parks team will continue working with the Youth Council when developing new projects
  • The addition of play or sports and fitness facilities for children and teens
  • Focus on ensuring our sites are safe and welcoming for everyone, especially women and girls
