Naturalising the River Crane in Twickenham: a community celebration

Community news on behalf of Let's Go Outside and Learn CIC | 6 August 2026

River restoration of the River Crane earlier in 2026 at Mereway Nature Park meant that the river was removed from its concrete channel and natural river banks restored.

This has led to improved water flow through the channel, increased water storage capacity, richer habitats for plants and wildlife and an enjoyable natural space for the community.

A celebration of the achievements is taking place on 8 August 2026 at Mereway Nature Park, Twickenham and local residents are invited to come along and see for themselves what has been achieved, talk to the organisations involved and learn about the next phase of the project.

You can find out more about the celebration.
