Health services over the bank holiday

Health services are available if you need medical care over the upcoming bank holiday.

Some GP practices and pharmacies may have different opening hours on the bank holiday, however there are a range of services available to ensure you can get care. 

Seeking urgent medical help 

If you need urgent medical advice but it’s not a life threatening emergency, you can visit the NHS 111 website or call NHS 111. Trained advisers can assess your symptoms and direct you to the most appropriate local service, including out of hours GP services, pharmacies or urgent treatment centres. 

In a medical emergency, always call 999. 

Pharmacy opening hours 

Some local pharmacies will be open over the bank holiday, although opening hours may vary. Residents can search ‘find a pharmacy NHS’ online to find an open pharmacy near them and check their Saturday and Sunday hours. 

The following local pharmacies have confirmed opening times for the bank holiday: 

K C Pharmacy

• Address: 23 Broad Street, Teddington, TW11 8QZ
• Bank holiday opening times: 12 to 4pm

Pyramid Pharmacy

• Address: 19-21 Station Parade, Kew, TW9 3PS
• Bank holiday opening times: 10am to 4pm

Pharmacists can provide advice on a range of minor illnesses and health concerns and may be the quickest way to get help without needing an appointment. 

There may be additional pharmacies open. You can find a pharmacy online or by calling NHS 111. 

Plan ahead for repeat prescriptions 

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and make sure they have enough medication to last through the bank holiday. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered using the NHS App or through your GP practice, which may also offer online services. 

Mental health support 

If you or someone you know needs urgent mental health support over the bank holiday, help is available 24 hours a day.

Urgent dental care 

If you need urgent dental treatment over the bank holiday, contact your regular dentist in the first instance. If you’re unable to reach them, you can find an emergency NHS dentist.
