Support street trees in Kew and beyond

Community news on behalf of Friends of Street Trees | 14 August 2025

On Thursday 21 August, residents are invited to hear from Friends of Street Trees and our Trees team about helping to water the young trees near your home - a small act that makes a big difference.

Do you know how you can help keep your neighbourhood green, or make it even greener? Trees suffer during warm weather just like we do, but you can play your part and make a real difference.

Friends of Street Trees are inviting anyone and everyone who cares about street trees to come along, share your views, ask questions, and put forward your ideas on how to protect trees on our borough’s streets.

Hear from John Rose, founder of Friends of Street Trees, on what you can do about the tree outside your house, and Paul Maher from our Trees team, on how street trees are managed across the borough.

This free event is your opportunity to learn, connect, and take action to support a greener Kew.

  • Date: Thursday 21 August 2025

Street trees provide the shade and cool areas we seek out in the hot weather. They are pockets of nature in the middle of our paved world, helping to keep us healthy – mentally and physically - as we go about our lives. Yet they suffer from the heat just like we do; they need extra care when they are young, just like we do, and you can help!
