Community support shines through at Mortlake Crematorium

Community news on behalf of space2grieve | 29 April 2026

space2grieve, a Richmond charity providing free, confidential bereavement support to local residents, has been awarded a generous £4,250 donation through the ICCM Metals Recycling Scheme.

The scheme is a national initiative that, with the consent of bereaved families, recovers metals following cremation to support death-related charities.

Since it began, the scheme has raised millions of pounds for good causes across the UK. space2grieve was nominated for the award by Natasha Bradshaw, F.ICCM, Superintendent & Registrar at Mortlake Crematorium. Jenny Harris, Co-founder, and Katherine Mathers, Fundraising Manager at Space2Grieve, recently visited the crematorium to collect the cheque.

They said: “We are incredibly grateful to the bereaved families, Mortlake Crematorium and the ICCM for this wonderful donation. As a charity that relies on the generosity of our community, this funding will directly support our free individual and peer bereavement services, helping ensure no one has to face grief alone."
