Career development support for Richmond residents

Community news on behalf of Room for Work | 9 April 2026

Room for Work are offering two free courses this April in Richmond and Hampton to help residents get back into work.

Over-50s have the hardest time returning to work after a redundancy. It can feel like all the cards are stacked against you. If you're struggling to get back into work, and you're a Richmond resident with skills and experience, this is the programme for you.

At Room for Work we understand the barriers you face. We've developed techniques you can use to get re-employed in a role you want, working in congenial circumstances for an organisation you respect.

Participants learn current job search methods with an emphasis on networking, developing social media skills, improving CVs, using AI effectively and practising competency-based interviews. All delivered in a friendly local environment.

The Room for Work format includes tailored, one-to-one mentoring provided by the Course Leader with follow-up coaching support.

The 12-lesson programme is for people over 40 with skills and work experience ranging from administrative to managerial and professional roles. Those who are new to the UK job market with good basic English and computer skills are also welcome to join.
