South East Prestige Award recognises Powerjam's innovative approach and commitment to excellence in music education specifically acknowledging “the personalised service-driven focus that is often void from larger organisations”.
Over the past 10 years despite the relatively small size of the Project’s non-selective initiative and resources they have matched up young musical applicants and formed bands, provided weekly tutor-led band rehearsals and songwriting sessions, numerous gigs per year, and even professionally recorded and released their bands’ music on all streaming platforms.
Powerjam was also recognised for its outstanding contributions at the 2024 Music and Education Awards in January 2025 and shortlisted in the Progressive and Inclusive Music Education category.
The Big Issue Changemakers of 2025
Powerjam Band Project has been voted one of The Big Issue Changemakers of 2025 by public vote. With disadvantaged young musicians and those with SEN now representing 40% of the Project’s students, this recognition celebrates their decade-long commitment to inclusivity.
This unique approach has proven year after year that mixing socio-economic backgrounds is both inspiring and educational, leading to enhanced creativity, and that their music program transcends boundaries. Powerjam members learn to collaborate towards a common goal and gain invaluable life skills such as tolerance and teamwork.
Royal Albert Hall headlining act
Following a nationwide Music For Youth competition, Powerjam band, Bluezd (ages 13-16) were selected and performed as the headlining act at The Royal Albert Hall at the end of 2024.
Bluezd have been a band at Powerjam for three years, from the ages of 10 to 13 performing on countless stages, and even graduated to the main stage of The Ealing Blues Festival last year at the sole youth band featured. You can check out Bluezd at Royal Albert Hall.
