Protect your presents from parcel theft

2 December 2025

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so make sure your Christmas stays ‘merry and bright’ by following these tips to help protect your presents from theft.

Parcel thieves will steal deliveries that are left outside your home and they’re likely to go back to houses they’ve stolen from before.

Met Police have a few helpful tips, including:

  • Track your parcel and make sure someone is home to receive the delivery
  • Organise for your parcel to be delivered to a neighbour
  • Use an off-site locker service
  • Install a video doorbell, which can notify your phone of any deliveries
  • Complain to delivery companies if your delivery instructions are not adhered to

We always want to receive parcels, but especially at Christmas time, so it’s important to be vigilant and put safeguards in place to avoid missing out on your deliveries.

If you do have a parcel stolen, remember to report it. You can report it to the police via 101, 999 or online at www.met.police.uk.
