Helping Richmond residents find a home with London Living Rent

Finding a home in London can feel out of reach for many residents, especially for those who don’t qualify for social rent but don’t earn enough to afford market rents or save for a deposit.

That’s where London Living Rent (LLR) steps up, offering a fairer, genuinely affordable way for locals to live and rent in Richmond.

What is London Living Rent

London Living Rent is designed to help tackle the London-wide housing crisis and support residents and key workers in the borough. 

It offers high-quality homes with rents based on a third of average local household incomes. Benchmark London Living Rent levels are set by the GLA to ensure rents are genuinely affordable. 

This means lower monthly rent with the stability of a minimum three-year tenancy. 

London Living Rent is aimed at middle-income Londoners who are working hard but can’t afford to rent or buy on the open market. 

With no expectation to buy, London Living Rent offers an opportunity for residents to save toward a deposit and build on their journey to home ownership. 

London Living Rent in Richmond 

We are working hard to make housing more accessible and affordable for our residents and key workers  who keep our community running, through offering London Living Rent as part of Richmond's Foundations for a Fairer Borough strategy. 

Councillor Chris Varley, Lead Member for Housing said: 

“These homes are more than just a place to live; they give residents a genuinely affordable home to rent while keeping communities together. It supports financial stability, housing security, and the chance to stay close to family, friends, and work, and also offers a realistic path to home ownership. This all helps make Richmond a fairer place for everyone!” 

Recently, Councillors visited some of the London Living Rent properties, developed with RHP. The Potterill Court development includes six brand-new London Living Rent flats, designed with our community in mind, featuring outdoor space and secure storage. 

One RHP London Living Rent customer, said: 

"We've been here a week and we love the area. It's a sustainable and economical new build that's perfect for us. The process was really straightforward, and everyone involved has been extremely helpful. We're so happy to have found a quality home that offers real value in London."
