Explore all that Richmond's arts and culture scene has to offer

I began writing this in the warm space at Whitton Library. During the recent cold snap our libraries, along with other community centres, have provided warm and comfortable environments along with hot drinks, games, and puzzles. Several residents have told our library staff how pleased they were with these facilities being close to where they live.

Richmond upon Thames's Arts Service have discussed plans with me for a new arts and ideas festival this summer. Taking place between Friday 16 June to Sunday 2 July 2023, the theme is 'Together and change'. Although it is still in the planning stage, venues across the Borough will be involved with many of our cultural societies and organisations. It is hoped that by the end of April, the programme will be announced. Given the interest shown by many of our cultural partners, I believe this will create exciting new ways of working together in the future. Watch this space for further details.

We need not wait until June as our Library service has a varied programme of events all throughout the year. I recommend March's Twickenham Library afternoon with Ben Aaronovitch on Saturday 4 March from 2.30 to 4pm, Garfield Road. His Rivers of London series have sold over five million copies worldwide. The Sunday Times bestselling author is celebrating the launch of the paperback edition of the ninth book in the series, Amongst our Weapons. Aaronovitch books will be available to buy on the day supplied by The Open Book.

Tickets £3.00 from your local library or online.
