Learn how we are tackling violence against women

8 August 2023

White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, especially men and boys, to act and change the culture that leads to abuse. As White Ribbon accredited organisation, we are committed to preventing violence against women and making the borough a safe place for everyone.

In line with this and as outlined in our VAWG strategy, we are working with community groups and our residents to unite against the issue.

Following the success of our White Ribbon stall at the High Tide Festival in July, we are setting up shop at other events in the borough to help residents learn how to combat violence against women and girls safely.

High Tides Festival headline act The Mystery Jets, wear their white ribbons.

The stalls will provide residents an opportunity to become an ally in ending men’s violence against women by wearing the White Ribbon and taking the White Ribbon pledge to ‘never commit, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women’.

The details of our next stall:

  • Event: Met in the Park
  • Date: Monday 21 August
  • Time: 11am to 5pm
  • Location: Old Deer Park

We have also organised a White Ribbon walk to raise awareness for the issue and bring the community together to take a stand against VAWG. Everyone is able to join the short walk by turning up on the day to show solidarity.

Event details:

  • Date: Saturday 30 September
  • Time: From 2pm
  • Location: Starting point at the Whitton Community Centre, Percy Road, Twickenham TW2 6JL
