70 volunteers from ASEZ carry out litter pick

Community news on behalf of ASEZ | 15 August 2023

On Sunday 13 August, 70 young volunteers from ASEZ took part in a litter pick in Richmond.

In the sunny weather, volunteer group ASEZ (Save the Earth from A to Z) from the World Mission Society Church of God and other volunteers from the community gathered to clean Richmond. The pick started from The Green and went along Twickenham Road and into the town centre.

The volunteers were joined by the Deputy Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Councillor Fiona Sacks, who also helped with the litter pick. Tesco in Richmond sponsored the event and provided crisps to thank the volunteers for their hard work.

The pick took place for two hours from 11am to 1pm and 68 bags of litter were collected, including two office chairs and other bulky items.

The clean up was part of the group’s ‘Environmental Protection’ activities to take the lead in protecting the environment and raising awareness of the problems of litter. ASEZ volunteers intended to deliver the message: “continuous care and concern change our living environment and impact the overall wellbeing of the community.”
