IT taster sessions at libraries

Our friendly and knowledgeable staff provide free IT taster sessions - whether you are a complete beginner, need to refresh your knowledge, or want to know more about social media and making the most of the internet.

If you need more long-term or advanced training than our taster sessions provide, our staff may be able to help you find a suitable course in your area.

Digital drop-ins tour

If you’d like assistance using your tablet or mobile phone, bring it along to one of our roving drop-in sessions. Our friendly staff will be on hand to give you tips so that you can get the most out of your device. All events are free - no booking is required.

We offer sessions on a number of topics, including:

Using the Internet
Internet Basics, Email (Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo!), Searching the Internet.

Online Plus
Online Shopping and Banking, Research Your Family History, Homework and Study.

Social Networking
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs, Instagram, WhatsApp.

Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentations
Word, Excel Basics, PowerPoint Basics.

Laptops, Tablets and Smartphones
Laptops, Apple iPads, iPhones, Android Tablets and phones.

Bookable 121 sessions are available by arrangement at your local library - see the table below for times and contact details. These sessions offer personalised IT help as a member of library staff sits with you to answer your questions.

Drop-in sessions

There are also regular drop in sessions at the Information and Reference Library. No booking is required for these sessions, which offer quick fire help for IT issues. Simply turn up with your question and our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be on hand to answer it.

Learn My Way is useful for anyone without basic online skills, or for people looking to improve their existing digital knowledge. If a centre code is required, please use 1622.
