Have you got something to say about where you live? We want to hear your views about your local area, what matters to you and your ideas about the future.
Unfortunately, as a result of coronavirus we have made the decision to postpone all the Community Conversation events scheduled between May and July 2020. The new rescheduled dates for the events in the below areas will be announced in the summer.
We are developing the Community Conversation, piloted last year with ward meetings – to include not only the local meeting to meet your ward councillors but borough wide events, online opportunities and themed workshops.
The Council is also looking to develop a new ward-based budget. A budget to be spent on local projects or activities, informed by you.
The next round of ward Community Conversations – running from April to October – will provide the opportunity to start identifying local priorities and prepare the ground for the ward budgets to be introduced.
If you have particular issues you would like to be discussed at your ward conversation and you can’t attend the meeting you can submit an issue through email@example.com or raise it directly with your ward councillor.
We also want to hear your ideas about how we can reach residents who want to have a say online, using social media or by alternative methods. Please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The events will consist of five main sections:
From 5.30 to 6.45pm.
There will be exhibition stalls regarding Climate Change and the future of the Local Plan and information about a key local issue. In addition, residents who have local ideas for community improvement projects and activities can attend to discuss their ideas with officers and understand what opportunities there are to move them forward.
From 6.45 to 7pm.
An independent chair will introduce the panel and invite ward councillors to give an update on achievements in the ward.
From 7 to 7.20pm.
A ward councillor will deliver a short presentation on the Local Area Fund, feedback heard from previous engagement and invite any input from residents on their ideas for community projects.
From 7.20 to 8.45pm.
With a panel made up of ward councillors – chaired by the independent chair. Pre-submitted questions – moving to open floor.
Below are the dates and locations for the 2019 ward Community Conversations.
Registration is not required. However, with growing concerns regarding coronavirus, we are asking people to register in advance. Whilst it is not our intention to cancel these events, should circumstances result in the event being postponed, we will be able to contact all those who register to let them know.
