General Elections can be called at any time with as little as 17 working days notice. By-elections and referendums may occur at short notice so you should ensure you are registered to vote.

The last UK Parliamentary (General) election was on 5 May 2005, the next is due by 2010.

The last Local Council election was on 4 May 2006 when Richmond Council was elected for the next 4 years until May 2010.

The last election for the European Parliament was on 10 June 2004 and the next is due in June 2009.

The Mayor of London and London Assembly elections were held on 1 May 2008, and are next due in May 2012.

For details of how to register to vote, or update your details having changed address, please visit our Registration page.

If you are on the current Register Of Electors you can request an application to vote by post: please use our online form.

Your electoral registration lasts for only one year. We will send the annual registration form to your house in the Autumn - this must be completed and returned to continue your registration. Electoral Registration is not linked to the Council Tax record as they are based on different criteria (most residents must pay council tax but only residents with certain nationalities may register to vote).
