COVID-19 testing
As part of the Government’s Living with COVID plan, free universal testing (which includes lateral flow tests and PCR), ended on 1 April 2022.
End of testing
Free lateral flow tests are no longer available in local libraries or pharmacies and the PCR testing sites across the borough have now closed.
A few groups will still be entitled to free testing, such as people going into hospital for surgery or a procedure and those working in the NHS or social care. Information is available on the NHS testing webpage.
If you want to get tested and you're not eligible for a free NHS test, you must pay for a COVID-19 test. You can buy these online and from some pharmacies and high street shops.
What to do if you have coronavirus symptoms
While you’re no longer legally required to self-isolate if you have symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive, you should try to stay at home and away from others to avoid passing on the virus.
The symptoms of coronavirus are:
- A high temperature
- A new continuous cough
- Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
