Garden waste service update
Please make sure you leave your bin out for your usual collection. Check your collection day.
- Will there still be disruptions and delays?
- Will extra waste be collected?
- Will I be compensated for collections missed?
- Keep up to date
The disruptions were due to collection crews having to self-isolate due to COVID-19.
On Monday 16 August, the rules around self-isolation for fully vaccinated people changed. Serco anticipate this will have a positive impact on the availability of collection crew staff, but there are no guarantees as people who have COVID-19 will still have to isolate, as will those who are not fully vaccinated.
The service will resume but there may still be some delays, particularly as we get the service back up and running and collect the backlog of waste. Please bear with us and please check regularly for details of specific missed collections.
Yes - all garden waste will be collected. Please put as much as possible into your bin, but anything additional can be left beside your bin (in sacks no larger than a standard refuse sack) and will still be collected. Any garden waste sacks put out for collection will be re-bagged as necessary and removed. Any spillage due to the decomposition of sacks will also be cleared.
Yes - all garden waste contract holders will be compensated for collections missed. We are finalising the plan for this and will contact you directly via post and email to confirm the details.
To make sure we keep you up to date with information relevant to you, please complete the short form to sign up for updates.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the service suspension. We are grateful for your continued patience.
