Hydrotherapy pool

Sessions at the hydrotherapy pool are for people with rehabilitation and special needs only. Aquatic therapies can be used to treat muscle weakness, balance disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries and other conditions that impair circulation.

About the pool

A unique environment for people who require supported exercise as part of a rehabilitation programme.

  • Water temperature is maintained at 34 to 36°C
  • 9.5 x 5 metre deck level pool
  • Accessible to disabled users
  • Open sessions are for families and adults (per 30 minutes)
  • Adult sessions reserved for customers 16+ years

Changing facilities

  • 3 x assisted changing cubicles with waterproof, adjustable and movable beds (one with a shower in the same cubicle)
  • 3 x curtained disabled changing units with seats
  • 1 x disabled shower and toilet cubicle with seat
  • 1 x disabled shower cubicle with seat
  • 1 x open shower next to poolside
  • All changing rooms have emergency alarms in place

Other facilities

  • Shower and toilet accessible wheelchair
  • Walking frames by main entrance
  • A manual oxford dipper 140 hoist next to poolside
  • An electronic Bianca movable and adjustable hoist that can be used from poolside into the assisted changing unit
  • £1 coin returnable lockers
  • Nappy bins are available for use

Public sessions

Prices are for 30 minutes and are valid until 31 March 2020.

  • R/C concession £4.30 per person
  • Carers go free (this does not include Physiotherapists and Rehab Specialists).

Booking

Public sessions are fully supervised by a qualified lifeguard but do not have a physiotherapist in attendance.

Places must be booked in advance (bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance).

All attendees must complete a Hydrotherapy Indemnity and Screening Form (pdf, 40 KB)* prior to their first visit. (* If attendee ticks 'yes' to any of the precautions or are over the age of 69 years, then a doctor or professional needs to sign and stamp the form too).

Carers attending must also register in advance by completing a Hydrotherapy Carer's Registration Form (pdf, 236 KB). If the carer is required to enter the water, then a Hydrotherapy Indemnity and Screening Form (pdf, 40 KB) also needs to be completed.

Private sessions

The hydrotherapy pool can be hired privately - please contact reception for more details. Any physiotherapist or organisation wishing to use the facility can also hire the pool on a regular booking basis.

Regular booking prices

Weekday:

  • £67 per hour with lifeguard
  • £39 per 30 minutes with lifeguard

Weekend:

  • £52 per hour with lifeguard
  • £37 per 30 minutes with lifeguard

All bookings must be fully paid for in advance.

Terms & Conditions

  • Adult sessions are reserved for customers 16+ years. These sessions are recommended for practising rehabilitation exercises already prescribed by a medical practitioner
  • The Hydrotherapy Pool opens 15 minutes before the first session and closes 30 minutes after the last session
  • Adult/Children sessions are for children and adults.  Anyone is welcome but please be aware children will be present
  • Please note that payment is required at the time of making a booking
  • Cancellations over 24 hours in advance can be transferred to an alternative date
  • Cancellations under 24 hours in advance will not be transferred and no refund will be given
  • We reserve the right to alter session times, subject to service need
