Frequently asked questions about hiring York House.

What sort of events can be held at York House and what is the maximum number of people that can be accommodated?

York House is suitable for weddings, concerts, parties, conferences and meetings. It is suitable for a variety of numbers depending on your event and combination of rooms.

How can I arrange to view the halls and facilities?

If you then wish to arrange a viewing or have any queries regarding a date email halls@richmond.gov.uk.

How much does it cost to hire York House?

There is a minimum hire period for each room. See the price lists for more detail. We do take private bookings on some bank holidays. For hire charges on these dates or for any other queries please contact a Lettings Officer.

Do you provide furniture, tableware and cooking utensils?

Tables and chairs are provided but you, or your caterer, will need to provide all the linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking/serving utensils etc. Kitchen facilities are only available with the hire of certain rooms via prior arrangement.

Can I serve alcohol?

You are welcome to provide alcohol to your guests free of charge, but we charge a small corkage fee of £1 per person if you supply your own alcohol. If you wish to have a pay bar, then you must hire the Council's approved bar supplier. Please contact a Lettings Officer for bar supplier details. If you are organising a charity event contact us for information on a Temporary Event Notice.

Is there parking available?

There is a public pay and display car park outside of the House which has 29 spaces. There is a maximum stay of 2 hours Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm. There are several other car parks in the surrounding area. Further information can be found on the car parks page.

What equipment can I bring into the rooms?

You are allowed to bring in stand alone presentation equipment or decorations for your event. However we do not allow anything to be pinned, stuck or attached to the walls in any rooms. Any equipment that is brought in has to come in and be taken out within your booked times. There is no storage available on site.

What facilities are available in the onsite kitchen?

The kitchen is only available by prior arrangement when hiring the Clarendon Hall, Hyde Room or Salon. The facilities provided are:

  • Hob with six hot plates
  • Hot cupboard (not for cooking)
  • Larder fridge (on request)
  • Boiling water supply
  • Ice making machine

We do not supply any linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware, utensils etc
