Nwes offers many services to small enterprises including one-to-one business advice, training and serviced business premises.

Start ups in London Libraries

The Start ups in London Libraries programme is designed to help aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs from all walks of life turn their business idea into a reality, or to elevate their new business to the next stage. Through the network of ten London borough libraries, grassroots business support is delivered almost directly to your doorstep.

Whether you have always wanted to start a business, or have just taken your first steps into entrepreneurship, the programme will give you the skills, information and know-how you need to build a viable business.

How it works

Visit one of the partner libraries to access a range of free services, including:

  • Quarterly free workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage start ups (they offer two workshops to cover all the fundamentals of running a startup)
  • Walk-in access to business resources and databases like COBRA
  • One-to-one business information sessions with borough SME champions
  • A programme of events, including live-screenings from the British Library's Business & IP Centre

You will also meet like-minded people and gain the confidence you need to make your business a success.

Nwes works throughout London, the East of England and East Midlands supporting people to start or grow small enterprises across all sectors, including creative enterprises, fashion, retail and food businesses. Services include 1-1 business advice, business and personal skills training courses, access to sources of business finance and serviced business premises.

Nwes provides support in partnerships with the following programmes:


Start Up Loans

Nwes can help startup and early stage businesses to secure finance through the Start Up Loans programme. It can help you develop your business plan. Once your loan is approved by an independent panel, you will receive a low-cost unsecured loan, business mentoring, and a range of business support products.

To apply, you must be:

  • Over 18
  • Setting up business, or have been trading fewer than 24 months
  • Based in England and eligible to work

Enterprise for Everyone

Enterprise for Everyone is a comprehensive programme of support for London-based businesses offering expert 1-1 business advice and/or loan finance to help start or grow your business. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

To apply, you must be:

  • London-based, or looking to relocate to London
  • Eligible to receive public funds and have not received state aid of more than 200,000 Euros in the last 3 years, and
  • In a pre-start phase, looking to form a limited company and start trading within 12 months, or
  • Already trading, and your business has been registered as a limited company for fewer than 42 months

Start&Grow, developed by Nwes, is an innovative online business support platform, and supports your business journey through planning, start up and growth.

Property Advice Service

Delivered by Nwes on behalf of the London Growth Hub, and supported by the Mayor of London, the Property Advice Service gives owners of small and medium-sized businesses the knowledge, expertise and confidence to help them to take on a lease.

It offers a 2 hour 1-1 session with a property expert, as well as a series of free masterclasses and panel events.

This programme runs until the end of March 2018.
