Japanese artist Sumiko Okubo is inspired by the natural world, combined with a deep sense of the spiritual. She works not only in woodblock and etching, but also pastel or bronze sculpture. Okubo’s art evokes a sense of timeless peace and tranquility. Initially trained in Tokyo followed by studies in London, her traditional Japanese style is imbued with the western influence she absorbed during her time in England. She regularly exhibits her prints and drawings, collectively titled ‘Poems of Nature’.
