On Thursday 17 November Carers in Mind (part of Richmond Borough Mind) is hosting a one-off event at Elleray Hall in Teddington.
Every year in November, Carers UK ramp up their efforts to raise awareness of the help and support available to those who give unpaid care to a loved one as part of their Carers Rights Day campaign.
Carers in Mind (part of Richmond Borough Mind) is taking this opportunity to reach out to those who care for a loved one with a mental health problem by hosting this event.
- Date: Thursday 17 November
- Time: 7 to 9pm
- Location: Elleray Hall, Elleray Rd, Teddington, TW11 0HG
- Price: The event is free, but please book to confirm your attendance
The evening will be an opportunity to meet and connect with other carers and parents, share stories and find respite from the challenges of caring, as well as learn about their rights.
For many, the term ‘carer’ still holds a lot of stigma. Many parents, partners and family members do not see themselves as a ‘carer’ - their care is simply part of being family. But looking after someone experiencing mental health difficulties comes with a very unique set of challenges and there is a huge amount of support out there to help you.
Anyone living within the borough who cares for a loved one experiencing poor mental health is welcome - you don't need to be registered with Carers in Mind. There will be prosecco served on arrival and canapes throughout the evening, with talks from the Mind team and the Adult Social Care Carers Champion, Jayne Ayris.
