The Mayor’s International Women’s Day celebration
13 March 2023
The Mayor of Richmond Upon Thames, Councillor Julia Cambridge, hosted a celebratory International Women’s Day event on Wednesday 8 March 2023.
Held at York House, Twickenham, the evening included a range of guest speakers such as author, Emma Kennedy, Beauty Entrepreneur, Amy Anzel, and author/speaker, Dr Agnes Koposi.
The event included entertainment and a raffle competition, with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s charity, Ruils.
The Mayor said:
“International Women’s Day was a chance to say thank you to Richmond’s many women community leaders along with charity and volunteer representatives.
I was so pleased at my evening reception in aid of RUILS to welcome so many familiar faces. We were treated to highly entertaining and thought-provoking contributions from our speakers who were in conversation with Guardian and Financial Times contributor Rabina Khan.
I had asked Rambert School if they would showcase a wonderful piece ‘Nice Girls Don’t Stay for Breakfast’ performed by final year students and choreographed by fellow student Eleanor McGrath. It seemed fitting to reflect this year’s IWD2023 theme ‘Embrace Equity’ by celebrating the contribution and achievements of fellow women and it was a proud moment to do so.”
