Age UK Richmond create collection of inspired memories from older people
18 January 2022
Earlier in the year, Age UK Richmond set a writing challenge asking older people in the borough to write about a memorable moment.
Forty entries cover encounters with stars, hardships endured, being evacuees, school days, wins, ponies, photobombing in the thirties and much more. Some of the contributors had never written before, but common to all was a memorable moment to recount. As part of Richmond’s Full of Life Fair in October 2021, Age UK Richmond held book readings at their centres in Whitton, Barnes and Twickenham. Some of the writers read their own stories and spoke about how much they enjoyed being a part of the project. Those listening were moved and inspired.Age UK Richmond is selling the books for £5 a copy. Email mt.keegan@ageukrichmond.org.uk to arrange a purchase.
