Get moving for National Fitness Day

Residents will be encouraged to get fit and get moving this week with a programme of active taster sessions and workshops for National Fitness Day.

On Wednesday 27 September, all of the borough’s sports and fitness centres will have a range of activities running throughout the day.

Whether you would like to try a new exercise class such as a spin or Zumba, or just get tips on how to maximise the benefits of your existing regime, there will be an activity for you to enjoy

One of the events which is sure to be popular is the Moonlight Swim. The Swim will be held from 8pm – 10pm at Pools on the Park in Old Deer Park. This is a great chance for families and friends to come along and have a swim at the end of the day.

Cabinet member for Culture, Sport and the Voluntary Sector, David Linnette said:

“Often the biggest barrier preventing people being active is that they don’t think fitness activities are for them or they are not sure what is available for them to do, this day is about allowing them to have a taste of what we offer and showing them fitness is for everyone.

“We are very lucky to live in a borough with plenty of space and programmes on offer for people to get active and I would encourage everyone who is interested to get involved.”
