More information

Susan Shaw, Business Champion for Richmond Council, said:

“The lights switch-on across the borough marks the start of the borough’s countdown to Christmas. They are organised by the local business associations, traders and BIDs, and many of the events have taken them months to organise.

“There is a full programme of activity planned, so I would encourage people to support their local high street and come and enjoy the festivities, and shop local.”

Graeme Wood from Whitton Business Association, added:

“This years 'Light Up Whitton' event is set to be our biggest ever. It truly represents the spirit of Whitton with the businesses and community coming together to celebrate this time of year in spectacular fashion. This year the Christmas Light will be turned on by the Commandant of the Royal Military School of Music Colonel V C Ried OBE, in honour of this being their very last Christmas in Whitton before the closure of Kneller Hall. They will be playing a half hour medley of Christmas classics from 4.30pm before we Light Up Whitton at 5pm.”
