Release Date: 23 May 2017
Local artists are invited to submit their applications to be able to exhibit their work at three top art galleries in the borough.
Richmond Council is already working on the 2018 Art Exhibition programme for The Stables Gallery and Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham and the Riverside Gallery in Richmond.
Every year, at least two ‘open’ exhibitions are held at the galleries, showcasing works in a variety of media and themes.
All artists must apply in writing to be able to utilise this opportunity and submissions are considered by a selection panel. Successful applicants will be able to use the gallery spaces for free but exhibiting artists must cover all exhibition costs.
Ishbel Murray, Richmond Council Assistant Director for Contracts and Leisure, said:
“Every year our Arts Service engages with a large number of artists, whether they use paint, sculpture, photography or other mediums to inspire their works.
“They are an essential part of our exhibition programme that aims to entertain, challenge, educate and stir the emotions of the thousands of visitors who come to our galleries.
“This is an opportunity for local artists to be part of the 2018 line up. The competition will be tough and we are expecting some excellent submissions. However, if you are a local artist who has something different to offer we would urge you to apply.”
