A best-selling author will present prizes next week to ten young writers for their reviews of this summer’s ‘top teen reads’.
Marianne Levy, author of Accidental Superstar will be presenting prizes and certificates to the young people aged 11-14 from schools across the borough who took part in the annual ‘Cover Story’ competition.
Over 517 young people took part in this year’s competition.
Following the awards presentation, Marianne will host a lively talk, followed by a Q and A and book signing. Her latest book is a hilarious story of a girl who finds fame singing online in her room.
Cllr David Linnette, Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, said:
“I am thrilled that Marianne Levy is able to come and present our budding young writers with their awards. This year saw a record number of submissions, really showing how many talented young writers we have in this borough.
“As the story Accidental Superstar shows, everyone has to start somewhere. And, who knows, in the future we might all be reading novels written by these young, award winners.”
The event is on Tuesday 16 May from 7 to 8pm at Richmond Library Annexe, booking is not required.
