Nearly 1,000 young people from across Richmond and Kingston schools and colleges attended an exciting careers fair yesterday (Wednesday 8 March).
This is the third year the popular event has been held and has been organised again by Achieving for Children for young people aged 15 to 24. This year's roadshow took place at the Harlequins Twickenham Stoop Stadium. The first hour was targeted at young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
The local students who attended the event had the opportunity to meet seventy exhibitors including IBM, Chessington World of Adventures, Haymarket Media Group, WHSmiths, Ambulance Service, PWC and Metro Bank.
Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Schools, Cllr Paul Hodgins, said:
“The World of Work roadshow was a great opportunity for young people to try out their skills, watch interactive demonstrations, and receive impartial careers advice and guidance. A variety of companies, organisations, local colleges, universities and training providers were there to give useful hints and tips on the world of work, its many opportunities, and the various routes into it.”
