In order to enable even more people to nominate their local hero, Richmond Council has decided to extend the deadline for Community Awards nominations by 2 weeks - until 4 August.
The Community Awards are designed to celebrate local people who have gone the extra mile to help someone else; people who improve the lives of others and the community around them. If you know someone who strives to make the lives of people around them better, Richmond Council wants to know!
This could be anyone who dedicates their time to helping the community in a voluntary capacity, this could be a motivational coach, someone who works to improve the environment or support the young and elderly.
The 2017 Community Awards nominations have been open for over month and the new 4 August deadline is fast approaching!
If you know someone who deserves credit for what they do – nominate them now!
The Community Awards aims to recognise individuals who:
The Council is also very keen to hear about young people who provide care to a friend or a relative, represent the borough on a regional, national or international level as well as initiators of school projects underpinned by their will to help others.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Joint Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Business and Community, said:
“There are many people who make an immense contribution to the lives of those in their local communities. Our borough is full of selfless people who give up their time and energy to help others altruistically.
“We want to hear their stories. We want to share their accomplishments and recognise them for it. Nominate your local hero before the 4 August deadline so they don’t miss out!”

You can find hard copies of the nomination form in the Civic Centre or your local library.
