Council website is among best in the Capital

Release Date: 04 July 2017

Finding information about everything from planning to fostering is made easy by Richmond Council’s website according to SOCITM, the local government organisation responsible for promoting good practice in this area.

Their experts have named among the best Council websites for connectivity in the country, and has given it the maximum four stars for quality.

The Richmond website receives over 3,500,000 visits each year. The experts believe that the design, layout and information provided on the site is accessible to all. Specifically, the Richmond website was considered one of the best for enabling people to apply for parking permits, and because it works well on a mobile phone.

Cllr Stephen Speak, Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Performance, said:

"The website is vitally important to giving Richmond's residents quick and easy access to the Council's services. Our research confirms that this is the preferred way of dealing with the Council and the number of services and the information available online continues to grow.

“This recognition from industry experts about the quality of the Council's website is great to see - but there is more to come. We are always looking at improvements and IT is at the core of the Council’s aim to serve residents better and with greater efficiency.”

As well as the website, residents can also find out about the services by searching for London Borough of Richmond upon Thames on Twitter and Facebook.
