Still time to get £85 to help with your fuel bills

Release Date: 08 February 2018

Over 250 people have already applied for a one-off grant of £85 this winter to help with their fuel bills…and there are still two months left for others to apply.

If you are on benefits or have a low income you may be eligible for help from the Council with heating bills. Grants of up to £85 per household are now available from the Council helping to protect residents who are at risk from living in fuel poverty.

Last year nearly 800 people received the one-off grant and the need continues to exist across the borough.

Richmond Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, Cllr Stephen Speak, said:

“Despite the loss of over £30m in Government grant, the Council wants to support residents who may be struggling to pay their fuel bills. In winter we know that these grants can make a real difference to families in the borough and I encourage people to apply as soon as possible.”

If you would like to apply you can download the Fuel Grants application form from the Council website or pick up a hard copy from the Civic Centre in Twickenham or Council libraries across the borough.

The deadline for applications is the 30 March 2018.
