Anyone for ping pong?

Release Date: 29 August 2017

Table tennis is set to become a smash hit in Hampton Wick with residents urged to pick up a paddle and use a new free outdoor ping pong table.

Richmond Council has installed the Table Tennis table following feedback from the community that they would like the new equipment at the Kings Field Skate Park in Hampton Wick.

The table is free to use, no booking required with paddles and balls available from the Skate Park café or bring your own.

You can also find outdoor table tennis at Kneller Gardens in Twickenham and North Sheen Recreation Ground in Sheen.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, was one of the first people to ‘pick up a paddle’. She said:

“Table tennis is a sport everyone can enjoy, regardless of their age, experience or fitness levels.

“We always welcome feedback about our parks and open spaces from both users and our valued ‘Friends’ groups. I am thrilled that we were able provide this table and I encourage everyone to pick up a bat and ball and get involved in a fun, free activity.

“Table tennis is a sport that once you have a go, you can’t stop – it’s addictive. It’s our aim to share that with as many people as we can.”
