Cityread London is back for 2017 and this year’s page turner is a gripping Elizabethan spy thriller which caps-off an array of Elizabethan related activities taking place locally to mark the pan-London event which runs from April until May.

Fancy cooking up an Elizabethan feast? If so, one of the first activities taking place is a talk on Elizabethan food at Hampton Library on Thursday 6 April. If that’s not your thing, don’t worry, there is Embroidery and tales from the era as part of the annual celebration that aims to bring reading to life for the whole capital. This year’s chosen Cityread London novel is the gripping spy thriller ‘Prophecy’ by S.J Parris, which is set in London in 1583.

Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Cllr Meena Bond, said:

“The cultural scene in Richmond is alive and well and there’s so much going on locally as part of Cityread London 2017 that will be of interest to many of our residents and visitors. It’s important to book now to avoid disappointment.”
