Noise and statutory nuisance

The Council investigates cases of excessive noise and nuisance arising from both domestic and commercial premises, but only if we decide that it is potentially a statutory nuisance. Before reporting a nuisance, you should be clear about the definition of statutory nuisance.

We deal with the following types of nuisance:

• Noisy neighbours
• Commercial and construction noise
• Smoke and bonfires
• Car alarms / audible intruder alarms
