Reader Development
Reader Development has been described as "Audience Development for Literature"
It is also about finding a good book!
Reader Development is the term now used in libraries across the UK to describe a new, active and creative approach to aspects of library service provision, such as library stock promotions and events for readers, where the focus is on:
- Engaging with reading as a popular leisure activity
- Opening up reading choices
- Offering people an increased enjoyment of reading
- Creating opportunities to share the reading experience
