Full of life fair 2011

Richmond Council's annual celebration event for senior residents

500 residents from Richmond upon Thames attended the Council's annual Full of Life Fair held on Thursday, 6 October 2011 at the Harlequins Rugby Club in Twickenham.

The fair, which celebrates the contribution that Richmond's over 50s have made and continue to make to the community, has risen in popularity three fold since 2009.

This year attendees were treated to a range of free taster sessions including Yoga (both mat-based and chair-based) provided by Surya Cooper of Sound Body Sound Mind, Pilates by Bryony Ashford,  massage and henna painting by Ishkama and even a dance session provided by Amy Howard of the Harlequins Foundation. A free lunch was also provided to all attendees.

Over 60 stallholders offered their advice and support throughout the day on topics including health, housing, mobility, local volunteering initiatives, safety and finance. There was also a range of information on arts and cultural events taking place in the borough.

In addition to Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Adults Services and Housing, Cllr Nicola Urquhart, and the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Cllr Clare Head, the Council's Champion for Senior Residents, Cllr Rita Palmer was announced and spent the day speaking to residents and stallholders picking up on the local issues for over 60's.

This year the fair was also open to care providers and housing development organisations including Dynasty Care, Mears, Notting Hill Housing and others.
