Youth Commissioning Panel - Grants 2012/13

The Youth Commissioning Panel (YCP), with grant funding made available by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, aims to fund projects that young people want or need. The panel consists of young decision makers from across the borough from a variety of different groups and backgrounds that make decisions on the proposed projects, supported by professional practitioners.

The grant is available to youth groups that deliver services to young people from 11-19 and up to 24 with disabilities.

Grants available

The Youth Commissioning Panel has a budget of £50,000 to be allocated for this financial year April 2012 – March 2013

The priorities this year will be:

  • Girls and young women’s work
  • Wellbeing and mental health
  • Participation and engagement
  • Tackling risky behaviour and hidden harm
  • Increasing young people’s participation in education, employment and training

Delivery will be expected to address at least one quindrat area

  • Richmond and Ham
  • St Margarets, Twickenham and Teddington
  • Hampton and Hampton Hill
  • Heathfield, Whitton and West Twickenham
  • Kew, Mortlake, Barnes and East Sheen

Criteria

  • There needs to be a collaboration of at least two organisations demonstrating how they will work together in partnership to deliver the desired services
  • Organisations will need to match-fund a minimum of 50% of the value of the grant
  • The grant will only fund delivery for evening and weekends and during school holidays
  • This grant will only fund new and innovative projects and will not fund projects that duplicate work, supplement existing projects or fund projects that have already taken place
  • Submissions must have a nominated young person who endorses the project
  • All elements of the application must be completed in full to be considered by the panel and submitted by the stated submission date
  • Projects should show a clear exit route of progression or how delivery will be retained
  • Grants will not cover any capital costs
  • Successful grants will complete a service level agreement and any required monitoring or evaluation reports
  • Grants must be between £2,000 and £3,500

Application and assessment process

Stage one: Young people will review and shortlist completed submissions that meet the criteria and priorities. Deadline for submission is Friday 11 May 2012.

Stage two: shortlisted providers will be invited to present their project to the youth commissioning panel

Service level agreement

Successful providers will agree to the terms of the contract and deliver to the required outcomes.

Quality assurance

Officers and young people will visit successful projects during the length of the contract.

Transparency

The Youth Commissioning Panel is open to encouraging non-service users (young people who don’t use Council youth services) to become involved and support the commissioning process.

We would also encourage practitioners from outside of the Council youth services to support the facilitation of delivery at decision days, subject to appropriate safeguarding checks.
