Review of polling districts and polling places
We regularly assess our Polling Stations for suitability and accessibility, and survey large numbers of electors at every election. Their average satisfaction borough-wide has been 98% since 2001.
The Electoral Administration Act 2006 requires each local authority to undertake a full review every four years, the last having been in 2007.This review does not cover constituency or ward boundaries as its main purpose is to ensure that all electors in each of the borough’s 53 polling districts have reasonable and accessible facilities for voting.
Any registered elector within the borough may make representations on the location and suitability of their polling station and, where appropriate, include alternative venue suggestions that may be hired as polling places.
Electoral Services present their suggestions for alterations, which are considered by a cross party working group and the resulting proposals are submitted to Council.
