Mayor of the Borough

Each year in May the Council elects a Mayor of the Borough to represent it at various civic functions and to raise money for local good causes.

The Mayor of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames for the Municipal Year 2012/13 is Councillor Rita Palmer.

Biography for the Mayor, Rita Palmer

Rita has lived in Barnes for 16 years and has two daughters and two step-daughters. Rita is a qualified Forensic Therapist and has worked for 15 years in many of the London prisons.  Her hobbies include classical music, opera, rock & roll, gardening and being a grandmother. Rita enjoys collecting eyebaths and her collection is a galaxy of beautiful colours. Rita is married to Adrian Palmer who is a retired accountant.

Rita was Champion for Senior Residents and Chair of Regulatory Committee during 2011/2012.
