Greek mythology gets modern in Twickenham

Orange Prize contender and New York Times Bestseller, Madeline Miller will be at Twickenham Library for a reading and signing of her new book on 31 May.

The event will be a rare appearance for the American author on British soil where she will be discussing her book ‘The Song of Achilles’, a retelling of the classical story of Achilles and the Trojan War. Written over a 10 year period, the book has achieved literary success on both sides of the Atlantic as a modern adaptation of classic Greek Mythology.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council’s Strategic Cabinet Member for Communities, Business and Culture, said: “This is truly a unique opportunity to see a prestigious and critically acclaimed author at your local library. Madeline Miller’s debut novel is fast becoming a literary great and the event promises to be an insightful evening. I strongly encourage residents to book early to avoid disappoint.”
