From learning Japanese to singing from scratch, self defence to knitting – there are a range of free taster sessions being run in the borough’s libraries as part of Adult Learners Week, 9-15 May.
The annual event aims to encourage adults to pursue further learning, whether it is to develop new skills for work, catch up on subjects not learnt at school or simply to learn for fun.
As well as the more unusual classes, there are also a variety of more practical sessions such as IT training and child and parenting skills.
Ian Dodds, Head of Culture on Richmond Council, said:
“Adult Learners Week is aimed at giving adults the chance to learn new skills that they might not have got the chance to develop because of work or family commitments or just because they haven’t found a convenient opportunity to get started.
“There are a number of libraries around the borough hosting classes and there are evening as well as daytime sessions. I hope as many people as possible take advantage.”
