Unauthorised Access on Langdon Park/Broom Road, Teddington
After concern from residents, the problem of unauthorised access on Langdon Park/Broom Road, Teddington has been resolved and all litter and debris will be cleaned up today.
Paddling pools
Paddling pools at Carlisle Park, North Sheen Rec, Palewell Common and Vine Road Rec will open from 4 May - weather permitting.
New Dog Exclusion Order - Petersham Meadows, Richmond, Surrey
(pdf, 12KB)Hampton Common and Oak Avenue nature reserve improvements
Phase 1 of the Hampton North Uplift programme to extend the footpath network in Hampton Common and open up the entrance to Oak Avenue Nature Reserve has been completed. Phase 2 is well under way to create a green corridor between the Reserve and Hatherop Park. Works to clear vegetation on Thames Water land to open up a pathway; new kissing gates installed to prevent motorbike access; new fencing will be installed in late April with the final installation of way markers in early May.
East Sheen Common Improvements
As part our ongoing commitment to maintain and improve our parks we are pleased to inform you that the following works are due to start week commencing 15 April 2013.
- Replacing fence line along Kings Ride Gate and Cemetery Road.
- remove broken and redundant furniture and replace with a new bin and signage.
- Footpath works (to improve drainage) from the entrance area (this will involve some landscaping) up to Bog Gate of Richmond Park.
- Realign entrance gate to improve vehicle access.
- Thin the front of the site along Kings Ride gate to create a woodland edge.
- Create a stag beetle loggery to create new habitat and tidy up existing habitat piles.
- Replace old benches with new as and where required.
Works should take 6-8 weeks depending on weather and we will endeavour to keep minimise disturbance for park users.
These works have been funded by the Parks Improvement Programme.
York House Gardens Improvements
Works to improve accessibility around York House Gardens are now complete.
Work to resurface the Terrace at the rear of York House is also proposed for later this year which will also include new furniture.
Soft landscaping has taken place along York Street to open up views of the Garden and House as well as footpath repairs and resurfacing around the Woodland Garden and Japanese Garden.
There will be a future consultation on the installation of natural play in the woodland Garden in the coming weeks, further information will be online once designs submitted
Teddington Pocket Parks
In order to retain the current high standards of parks, improvements to new and existing facilities are developed through consultation with residents and we would be interested in your views on the proposed improvements to Elmfield Gardens and Jubilee Gardens - Teddington High Street.

Barbecues in parks
Barbecues are not permitted in any Council-managed parks or open spaces. This includes disposable barbecues.
Mad About Meadows
Inspired by the wildflower meadows in the new Olympic Park, London In Bloom have brought together 25 organisations with an aim to enhance communities and improve biodiversity. Volunteer work
Volunteering is great way to have fun, meet new people and provides an ideal opportunity to learn new skills. There are over 78 local environmental groups that can be found within the borough, many of them do practical sessions on some of the 100+ Parks and Open Spaces within Richmond Borough.
Alternatively there are other ways in which you can support your local groups such as fund raising or publicity, you don't need any specific skills, just a willingness to get involved!
