Magazines and newspapers available in Richmond Libraries

Richmond Libraries stock a wide range of periodicals - magazines, newspapers and journals - including the first edition of The Times, Picture Post and Vogue. These are all available to the public. The majority are held at the Central Reference Library but the lending libraries also stock a small range of newspapers and magazines. These are all listed in the periodical list.

The periodical list

The list is divided up into the following sections:

• National and Sunday newspapers

Holdings

The periodical list will tell you where a periodical is held. Generally the lending libraries only keep periodicals for a short time, weeks or months, while the Central Reference Library and the Local Studies Library hold them for longer. The periodical list will tell you for how long they are kept and at which library.

If you are making a special journey to consult a particular periodical please ring the library that hold it to check that it is available:

Format

The majority of periodicals are taken in hard copy but some are taken on microfilm, online or on CD-ROM and this is noted in the periodical list.

Web sites

Where a periodical has a website this is included in the periodical list. Some of the web sites included are for the organisation that publishes the periodical rather than the online version. These are external sites over which Richmond Council has no control and we cannot take any responsibility for their accuracy or content.
