DANCE!
The Arts Service continues to produce and promote an exciting programme of dance performance and participation with vibrant and varied activities and events in a host of venues throughout the borough.
Richmond upon Thames' annual programme of dance for 2012 features vibrant performances, engaging courses and exciting dance residencies including individuals of all ages and abilities. Delivered in partnership with a range of dance providers we aim to increase opportunities for everyone to get dancing, and to inspire anyone wishing to further their experience of dance!
Events include...
- Richdance – our annual showcase of the borough’s choreographic talent, including performances from professional dance companies and a platform for emerging choreographers!
- Big Dance Bus - the Big Dance Bus is coming to Richmond upon Thames this Summer and will feature a highly visible and exciting programme of dance events.
- Choreographer Rosie Whitney-Fish will be revisiting the disused Twickenham Lido site to create a magically nostalgic dance theatre performance based on the memories of those who swam there in its hey-day. As part of Big Dance 2012, 'Dear Lido' will explore the heritage of this historic site, gathering stories from the local community to create a performance that celebrates the local area.
- 2012 will also see the creation of a brand new site specific performance by the Seven Sisters Group at Hampton Pool. Seven Sisters Group create atmospheric dance theatre with elements of fashion, visual and digital arts.
